Call To Arms - the Cardiff Rugby Supporters' Trust - has called an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Cardiff Athletic Club (CAC) in order to ensure that rugby plays a more important role in the focus of CAC.
The main aim of this is to ensure that the CAC shareholding in Cardiff RFC Ltd (the company which owns both Cardiff RFC and Cardiff Blues) is used to ensure the following aims are met:
The proposal for the EGM requires EIGHT rugby section members to sit on the Management Committee of CAC and we want YOU to be involved.
As always in Welsh rugby, everything is organised by committee but Cardiff is extra special as it has TWO committees involved with Cardiff Rugby. Firstly, there is the Rugby Committee of CAC and these are the guys charged with organising and representing the Premiership team. Duties involve monthly meetings and matchday duties including meeting and greeting the committee members of the visiting team. Clearly these roles are designed for followers of the Premiership team despite the fact that CAC are the major shareholder in Cardiff RFC Ltd..
Eight members of the rugby section of Cardiff Athletic Club (all of you users of the downstairs lounge!) are required to attend the regular meeings of the Management Committee of CAC in order to ensure that the rugby section is properly represented and recognised in the running of the members' club.
Two members of the CAC Rugby Committee also sit on the board of CRFC Ltd. and these are the roles that we want filled by ordinary supporters of both Cardiff RFC and Cardiff Blues. To sit on the board of CRFC Ltd. requires attendance at regular board meetings and a willingness to disseminate information to the supporters on the terraces.
The traditional roles of these committees will surely now change because of the decision made by the Executive Directors of CRFC Ltd. to move our team away from its home. Therefore, those who wish to see this move overturned must step forward - NOW!
