The second call for an SGM has been declined with the Management Committee putting in writing two reasons:
The original call was declined because the proper wording had not been used, with no mention of point 2 above. This could be because this is the full wording of the member's handbook:
18. GENERAL MEETINGS
(b) Extraordinary General Meetings of the Club shall be held as and when considered necessary by the Management Committee or upon written request by at least 30 Members of the Club. Such request must be accompanied by the resolution or resolutions to be moved and the names of the proposers and seconders of such resolution or resolutions.
Now, as you can see, nowhere in 18 (b) does it mention that the first call should be through the Rugby Section. The Management Committee has received, in writing from more than 30 Members, a full resolution.
I'm sure a cynic would note that this is just a very poorly disguised stalling tactic, but I'm sure that it is just a genuine mistake.
It is hoped that this slight misunderstanding will be rectified on Saturday so that other interested parties do not get involved. Therefore, all CAC members should hopefully be receiving some more information in the new future.
As a reminder, the call for the SGM is to ensure that the rugby section (which counts for the vast majority of member numbers) have their superiority in member numbers reflected on the Management Committee. It is also hoped that more rugby influence over the Management Committee would result in a better use of the major shareholding and heritage shareholding in Cardiff RFC ltd, the company which owns and runs the teams branded as Cardiff Blues and Cardiff RFC.
